NEW YORK, NY, August 7, 2001 -- L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) today announced that its Link Simulation and Training division has been selected to compete for military training programs worth a total of approximately $3.0 billion under the U.S. Air Force's Training Systems Acquisition (TSA) II initiative.

Under the 15-year TSA II program, Link will compete for potential 10-year orders to design, build, install and support a wide range of aircrew, maintenance and system specific training systems. As part of this initiative, orders may also be awarded that call for development of training courseware, software, hardware, and simulated visual and sensor systems. In addition, orders may also be awarded to provide ongoing contractor logistics support for currently fielded training systems and equipment. Organizations selected to compete for TSA II programs include L-3 Communications/Link, Sytronics, Inc., AAI Engineering Support, ECC International, Lockheed Martin Information Systems, CAE USA, Inc., The Boeing Company, Karta Technologies, FlightSafety Services Corp., and LB&B Associates.

Following the selection announcement, in recent weeks Link has won initial competitions under the TSA II contract vehicle. Link has won the C-141 Total Training System program and F-16 Aircrew Training Devices program. Combined, these programs have a total potential value of approximately $140 million.

"Link is very pleased to have been selected to compete for TSA II awards," said Jim Dunn, president of Link Simulation and Training. "We're looking forward to contributing to TSA II's goal of streamlining the acquisition process while providing the U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense with the best value in training systems."

Over the life of the TSA II program, contracts will be awarded to support a wide range of training requirements within the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Air Force Reserve, U.S. Air National Guard and on foreign military sales initiatives.
