FARNBOROUGH, ENGLAND, July 19, 2006 - L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its Link Simulation and Training (Link) division has been awarded one of three indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contracts by the U.S. Air Force to support the service’s Simulation and Analysis Facility (SIMAF) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Program contract value could grow to $31.5 million over a projected five-year period of performance, during which time Link will be responsible for providing system hardware and software support, as well as facility operation and maintenance.
Link also is a subcontractor to General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, which won a contract to support other functional areas of the SIMAF. Link’s work under this subcontract will initially focus on providing software development for constructive and virtual simulation task orders, and could grow to $9.2 million over five years.

The SIMAF provides an integrated modeling, simulation and analysis capability - which includes virtual, distributed and constructive simulations - to rapidly evaluate network-enabled warfighting capabilities, current and future weapon systems, strategies, concepts of operations, tactics, emerging technologies and human system interfaces. As a result of this research, U.S. Air Force decision makers are able to increase mission effectiveness, accelerate acquisition, mitigate risk and reduce total operating costs of future weapon systems.
