Link Simulation & Training's long-time role as a
leading provider of aircrew training systems is being underscored
today on the U.S. Air Force's E-3 Flight Crew Training program.
In support of the program Link is providing the Air Force
with commercial training and simulator services, including
contractor logistics support for the school's aircrew training
devices.
Under
a contract that began in 2000, Link is responsible for the
majority of E-3 ground-based flight crew training, including
ownership of the training devices and training facility.
The program provides a full spectrum of Air Force-directed
E-3 flight crew training. An efficient approach to the training
program minimizes involvement of E-3 Air Force personnel.
Link provides Air Force E-3 flight crew training to a guaranteed
level of proficiency.
In
addition, Link's efforts include the analysis, development,
design, engineering, validation and testing necessary for
operation, maintenance, modification, configuration management,
quality assurance and other logistics support required for
E-3 aircrew training devices, courseware and related training
system equipment.
Two E-3 Operational Flight Trainers enable flight crews to
practice takeoffs, landings, aerial refueling and emergency
procedures. In advance of training on the operational flight
trainers, aircrews gain instruction on a E-3 Flight Training
Device that allows aircrews to receive instruction in essential
elements of cockpit resources management and crew coordination.
Link,
which has been the incumbent contractor on the program since
1993, opened its new E-3 Flight Crew Training school in June
2002. The program has potential options that could extend
E-3 Flight Crew Training operations into 2014.
